Shorter OAL for my 75B cost me this weekend
« on: April 30, 2012, 11:58:21 AM »
I shoot a lot of cast lead RN in all of my guns - 38/357, 9mm, .45 acp. This weekend I had training seminars at a facility near Giddings, TX. Sitting in the hotel room, filling up mags for the next day, I made sure they would cycle properly.
Nope, they would not seat well. I had forgotten to adjust (shorten) my OAL in my last round of reloading to accommodate the CZ. Luckily, at 10:30 p.m. this night the Wal-Mart in this small town was still open and they had plenty of white-box 9mm.
Is there a replacement barrel that would remedy this?
CZ - 75B, SP01 tactical, P-01;
Walther PPS, /PPK/s;
1911 - Taurus 9mm, RIA Government, Mil spec;
Assorted other revolvers, automatics

The problem is that the rifling starts so soon after the chamber.  Rather than purchase another barrel, I'd think that a gunsmith could ream the barrel to remove some of the rifling.  Perhaps a standard 9mm chamber reamer would work?  As much as I like my CZ's, I honestly don't think that this feature adds to their accuracy.  If it does, then it's not enough for me to be able to notice.  I have several other pistols that have rifling starting much further down the barrel that are very accurate.

One thread on the subject is enough.
