How good is the satin nickel finish on 85 Combat?
« on: May 03, 2012, 03:11:31 PM »
i have tossed the idea around about a Custom SP01 but don't think I want to spend that much for a gun.  I am looking to purchase the Combat 85 in Satin Nickel and then do a Comp Hammer with Angus.  Does anyone have experience with the durability of the finish?

Mine: 9 years old:

Just keep the harsh bore cleaners off it.

I just received my 85 C in satin nickel last Saturday. Haven't had a chance to take it out yet. Everything I have heard on the satin nickel finish durability has been good. As Widge said keep the harsh cleaners off of it.
I too will be sending mine to CZ Custom for the hammer trigger job. The da pull right now is long and hard and lots of slack in the sa pull so definelty leaves some work to be desired.
Just need to get it out and shoot it before sending it in.

They are hard to find right now. Keep an eye on that Grab A Gun link I posted in the other thread in this forum. They seem to have them when no one else does and at a very good price. They are out of stock right now though. :(

My cousin had a satin nickel CZ Pistol (not sure of the model) 20 yrs ago.  After 10 yrs, it started flaking, exposing the base coating, not the base metal.  It could be because it was his all-around carry pistol due to holster wear.  I have mine since November.  So far, no chipping or flaking.  I had it cleaned 3 times now.
