I once owned a CZ P01.  Best gun I have ever owned unfortunatly I traded it for a gen4 G19... Worst mistake of my life.  I currently have a FNP-45 I want to swap for a CZ97BD.  While the FN is a fine gun indeed I want something heavier, more ergonomic and I want a CZ!  Does anyone have experiance with both?  I guess I am wanting someone to confirm my burning desire for the 97

I owned an FNP-45.  It's an outstanding weapon, w/o a doubt the best machined pistol I have ever owned.  I couldn't warm up to the spongy combination decocker/manual safety lever, but this is a personal thing.  I didn't like the SA, however, I was head a shoulders better than a stock CZ-97.  FNP DA was really heavy, and since it was pretty new gun, there was nothing on the market to modify it with.   

In the end, I couldn't shoot the FNP as well as I would have liked, again, not the gun.  I would take the FNP and 97 to the range and when it got to where I was only shooting the 97, the FNP was sold.

Schmeky, You are a lucky guy to have owned both.  I have personaly not ever seen a 97 in person but every other CZ I have picked up melted into my hand like butta  Large frame guns do not bother me so I can"t imagine that the 97 would be too bulky for me like some claim.  What was your experiance with the grip compared to the FNP45?  Also, were you saying the CZ or FN had a better single action?

Out of the box, the FNP had a better SA than the 97.  I have fairly long fingers and medium+ hands so the 97 is perfect fit for me.  The FNP's grip was different, I'll call it "good", at least for me.

I'm in the same boat. I shoot well with my CZ SP01 .40 but the FNP 45 I got a few weeks ago...I'm feeling like I just don't "get" it. Put 200 rounds through it and the sighting feels vague, ergonomics are odd, and I don't like the way it balances. I keep trying to get used to it then I think hell, maybe I should get a 97 instead. CZ's ergonomics feel just right for me. If I can handle a 97 in a shop I just may trade it.

You said it better than I did.  I never "got it" either.  But I want to stress the FNP is an excellent weapon, it just wasn't right for me.  I literally can't miss with my beater 97.  It's almost like cheating

I have recently been playing with the CZ 97 platform, since we recently go a bunch of them in the shop. My hands are small to medium size with short fingers. The 97, while a bigger than the 97, fits pretty well in my hands.
Set up with a single action trigger it does fit my hand perfectly.

Same exact problem I had until today. Sold my FNP 45 at the gun show, was inches away from buying the only 97B at the show but the guy wouldn't budge on the price. I'll get one soon enough.

Funny thing too, my FNP 45 was a week old, only 200 rounds through it, and nobody wanted to give me more than $500 for it. One of the guys jumped on the internet and said there are hundreds of sellers for them, and no buyers, so he wouldn't even make me an offer because "it would be alot less than you want".

Should have stuck with CZ all along. Anyway, I'll get a 97BD soon enough.

WooHoo   Sold the FN and got my 97b.  I never held one but knew it would be fine in the hand with CZ rep fro ergonomics.  I sold the FN for $600 and got the CZ for $602 + shipping and transfer.  I think I came out pretty good.  I have not had a chance to take it to the range yet but the trigger out of the box "feels" better than any CZ I have owned.  I hear about it having a reputation of being gritty, not this one.
