Where are rounds impacting on your factory target?
« on: July 18, 2012, 09:54:04 PM »
So I finally got my P07 and was able to make it out to the range.  My results left something to be desired and I left the range pretty bummed with my marksmanship.  When I got home I was cleaning the pistol and stumbled upon the factory target.

My rounds were also consistently hitting low and left although I was firing at the 10 yard line and these hits are at 15 meters.

Those targets aren't for sighting in, they are for function testing. The guys at CZ shoot bunches of pistols every day, they are just pointing the gun down range and firing, getting the rounds on paper - not trying for groups or anything. Don't read too much into them.

I wasn't born in America, but I got here as fast as I could.

That's what I've heard also. My 9mm looks alot better on factory paper than my 40 but they both shoot equally straight.

since i have no idea on how those targets were shot.  IE, ransom rest, ganst style, upside down -between the legs, ect, it makes no dif to me on what the target has on it.

where i make my decision is at the range with real ammo and after a few rounds to get familiar with the gun.  I know how well or bad i can shoot and judge the target then.  if i have a bud w/me, i let him/her have a go at it.

imo, most guns out shoot the shooter.

Well I will have to get some more trigger time and work on my pistol fundamentals.  I am happy to say I went through 150 rounds without issue.

I might paint the rear sights.  Any suggestions on color?

Black

yea...black is not a good color for sights.  Thinking orange, red, or green.

Seems like most pros, at least Angus, shoot with black rear sights and fiber optic front.

I shot my CZ for the first time today, and I can attest the targets are pointless. I Was pulling my shots left and low until I used support. 3 nice groups near bulls eye at 18yds. It was all in my hands and not the sights or accuracy of the gun.

Hmm interesting on the sight color. I've shot one where the white sticker came off, essentially a black rear sight, and did not like it. Maybe with a better front it works.

All the info in the video is great, but at 14:30 they talk about sights. This of course is personal opinion.
