CZ measures barrels like I measure my tool!
« on: August 23, 2012, 01:27:43 AM »
I was looking at my new Tactical Sport next to my longslide Witness and it didn't look that much longer, so I striped it down and measured the barrel:  5.08"!  The website lists it at 5.4"!  I like the gun, but I can't help but feel a little cheated.  I know what you're thinking, "what's a third of an inch between friends?" but I paid a lot of money for what I though would be a significantly longer gun.  Not to mention I'm bumped out of production and into limited over a lousy .08"!

You can't shoot production anyway with a single action gun.  Plus the Tactical Sport was born and raised for Limited.

CZ measures barrels from the feed ramp, which is a full 5.4", but only about 5.1" of actual barrel including the chamber.

however, the CZ UB website does mention the correct barrel length, excluding the feedramp, as 130mm (5.1"). I believe it is more related to law of the land, on how barrels are measured in different countries.

You only add a third of an inch when you brag about it?   I admire your ability to restrain yourself. :D

Even from the tip of the feed ramp it was only 5.28"...  oh well.  It's not even so much that I care about this barrel on this gun, but that I was planning to thread a TS barrel for another gun, but I don't have as much to thread as a thought I did.

IIRC, TS barrel sticks out about .75 inches from an SP01 slide.
shop guys just finished fitting a TS barrel a couple of weeks ago.

Like I tell the ladies:

"It may not be very thick, but it is short!"

Edit: (Good Lord, that wasn't very good for a first post was it?)

I just made the same realization. I own a cz75 and never took a ruler to it but i know all full sized cz's are advertized as 4.7 in barrels. Now that I'm in the market for a new USPSA Production gun I have been going back and forth between the EAA Stock II and the SP-01. I though the cz had the edge because the Stock II only advertized a 4.5 in barrel. So i went to the gun shop the other day and whipped out my ruler :o the two barrels measured out almost the same the EAA's 4.5" barrel actually was exactly that the cz's from rear of the hood to the muzzle was more like 4.4  ???
