Recieved my PCR...couple of question's...
« on: January 21, 2002, 10:13:23 PM »
It took 3 weeks, but I finally got it! Phil at CZC either felt bad about making me wait so long, or just forgot, but he sent me both magazines for it...

I'm going shooting this Saturday at a local indoor range and have a question. I want to break this thing in right, it's covered in oil in the plastic bag. Should I break it down and clean it up, or simply remove the excess oil? Do CZ's like to be "wet" or somewhat dry? My Glock 19 takes little to no oiling.

Last question for now...is the PCR basically a compact with a decocker? I'm most interested in frame/slide shape. I want to get un "Undercover" holster from Comp-Tac.

Thanks,
Jeff C.

I degrease mine completely and then use hornady dri-lube on it. There are numerous opinions on the use of various oils and grease for a weapon. I firmly do not like a weapon that is too oily.
Be carefull if you use gun scrubber or a like product as it will affect the grips on a std 75. I do not know how they will react with the pcr grips.
The pcr differs from the 75 compac in that the pcr uses an alloy frame and is lighter in weight and   slightly longer than the compac's steel frame. The lighter weight is a blessing for extended carry and the pcr frame is in my case more comfortable than the compac.

Czongradulations.....The PCR is a little different than the Compact...regarding lines and shapes.  The slide guide rails on the PCR are full length as opposed to the Compact.  The frame is very close.  Clean you gun like you would after you shoot...field strip it.  That is all you have to do......

Shoot well

I have the Comp-tac Undercover for my PCR.  As per Greg at Comp-tac, he sent me the holster molded for the full size 75 which I cut down the length with a hacksaw for a custom fit.  Cleaned up with a little 220 grit paper and have been happy ever since.

my opinion is to clean it thoroughly and then use a quality lube on the points of metal to metal contact.  if you use Gunscrubber remove your grips first, they can damage them.  I called Mike at CZ before I used Gunscrubber and he gave me a thumbs up on it.

I always field strip and clean a brand new gun, most CZs come dripping oil out of the box.

Thanks everyone for the information.

I went to my local Walmart and picked up a variety of ammo.
100 rds Winchester HP 115 gr
100 rds Winchester FMJ 115 gr
100 rds UMC-Remington FMJ 115 gr
100 rds CCI Blazer FMJ 115 gr
I also picked up a can of BreakFree CLP.

I'm going to run 50 rds of each thru the PCR, and 50 rds of each thru my new SIG 229 (if it shows in time). I want to see how the guns match up in shooting.

I've contacted Gregg about the holster, I'm going to order one for the PCR, and the SIG.

Thanks,
Jeff C.
