Pistol weight
« on: December 09, 2012, 10:23:20 AM »
Hello all;
   I'm new to the forum and to Witness pistols.  I've been a 1911 user in competition for over 20 years and recently became interested in Witness pistols.   I'm researching different models and I'm noticing a discrepancy in the stated weight of the steel frame models.    I borrowed a older Witness (9mm steel full size) made in 1979 and with an empty mag it weighs 42 oz.   The newer steel frame full size models have a stated weight of 33 oz and they have the accessory under lug.

Does anyone here know why the older steel pistols would weigh over a half pound more than the newer steel frame pistols?

 Another question is why the full size polymer pistols only weigh 2 oz less than the steel frame models (according to factory specs) ?

Your replies are appreciated

Thanks,  Steve
