Well it's not spray paint (hell if I know what it is then) but you're right. I meant that it'd look stupid. Still, I've heard that a gold dot as a 1911 sight was a big thing back in the day because it collected light well and didn't rust. I'm surprised that didn't stick around considering how dopey the new fiber-optic open sights look; they're the only known way to make a .357 appear to be a bb gun. I like the idea of a gold sight on a blued CZ52.

Dumb question time.  Are these guns blued?  I've got my gunkote and kphose on the way, and I dont know if I need to remove the blueing.  If that's what it is.  Thanks

Well, some CZ 52's have their original phosphate coating, and some were reblued by the Brno arsenal with a semi-matte black "hot dip" blueing.  I've seen one that may have been a prototype that had a highly polished blueing that shined like a Smith & Wesson... rich dark blue.

The barrel in my pistol has that highly polished blueing, but the rest of it is phosphate coated (like Parkerizing on US Model 1911's and other WW2 era guns).  Only you know which finish your pistol has.

As for whether you need to remove the finish, well, I'm out of my element there.  I've never refinished a gun.  I'm sure some of our experienced gunsmith types here have an answer for that question.

I guess to be one the safe side I'll just go ahead and use blueing and rust remover.  Just getting a little lazy.
