One of the biggest overlooked and least talked about things one would need to survive is good health and fitness. It's both amusing and sad watching people going nuts storing up on guns and ammo and survival gear but yet are in such sorry shape, always lying around watching TV, eating terribly and drinking all the time. My stepdad is like this. I doubt he'd last long in a real SHTF scenario if there were any serious hiking or outdoor activity involved while carrying the needed gear. I myself have been guilty of this to some degree but am much younger then he and in better shape, and I'm working on improving my health and fitness as we speak.
