Learned something new tonight
« on: September 20, 2012, 10:21:20 PM »
This will be obvious to anyone who knows a bit about shotguns (or really anyone who thinks about it), but - I learned tonight that shotguns with an inertia-based action won't dry fire the second barrel unless you give it a bump to reset the action.  I'm sure this seems trivial and obvious, but I just spent the last 90 minutes freaking out, thinking my new O/U shotgun was broken, defective, I got ripped off, yada yada yada.

Turns out, I'm just a newbie and didn't realize my gun had an inertia-based action.   ;D  A little bit of reading allowed me to figure it out, but I am just throwing this up there to share my (slightly embarrassing) experience and to hopefully prevent anyone else from having the same 90 minutes of "panic", haha.

I love shopping online and finding great deals on new toys - until something doesn't appear to work right.  :o  Then I find myself freaking out, wishing I paid more to order it from a LGS, yada yada yada.  Glad this one was resolved with a thump to the butt of the gun, haha, and not a trip back to the manufacturer.
