Barrel Wear
« on: April 30, 2016, 12:25:49 PM »
My older P-01 is showing wear around the barrel lug and edge of the barrel on the chamber end.

Normal?

Interesting question. The compacts barrels have one lug versus two lugs on the full size barrels, so they are more prone to ware as i understand it. How much more i do not know. My PCR has too few rounds trough it to compare. I am interested to hear other forum members input on your question.

How many rounds do you have through your P-01.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Looks like the normal break in type polishing that the gun does to itself through normal use. I'm coming up on 7500 rnds through my PCR and 5000 rnds through my steel frame compact and they both have shined themselves up nicely with no ill affect on function or accuracy. I do believe the extended use of steel cased ammo can accelerate chamber and breach wear though.

Interesting. I never have used steel through this firearm.

Still I don't think you have anything to worry about but you could email those pics to CZ-USA and get their opinion on the situation.

Maybe I'll do that. The area most affected is the single lug above the chamber. Not 100% sure what that is actually called. The edge around that area are starting to show more wear than before. The pistol is from 2012 but frankly hasn't been shot much at all due to me working abroad and owning quite a few others. Just surprising/strange to see wear there or all places. I keep the pistol well lubed so I can't blame it on that.

After you perhaps polish out the nicks you could send to Robahr - NP3+ coating would make it like new!

Good to know! Thank you.

It's funny because the barrel lugs on top of the barrel don't have much wear if any. It's all on the back edge if the barrel.
