One other bit of advice is that it took me a long time to realize that the Dillon tumbler had an "optimal fill" point. What I do now is have the media filled to within 1/2 inch of the bowl. Then, with the cover still removed, turn the unit ON and start sprinkling in brass.
I keep inserting brass until the brass starts coming back to the top of the media in a boiling motion. It seems the brass not only has to vibrate, but also circulate inside the bowl to get really clean.
The typical Dillon CV-750 tumbler takes 600 pieces or more to operate correctly. I also have one of the older CV-2000 tumblers and I can only run that big boy about once a year because it simply takes too much brass to operate.
I suspect that's your issue. The Lyman, being smaller, is simply happy with a smaller volume of brass.
Try that.
