Recommended books to read?

I just order a Lee Turret Press. I was actually looking at it before I saw so many endorsements here. Needless to say, it sealed the deal.

But my question is, are there any books out there that are suggested reads for the beginner reloader?

I am really looking for something that gives the steps of the process. I have read lots here and elsewhere online but I didn't know if there were any suggested print books...

You will no doubt get recommendations for the ABC's of Reloading.  There have been several issues throughout the years.  I have never seen one I didn't enjoy.  My local library has SEVERAL issues.

The Lyman 49th reloading manual and Lee reloading manual both offer reloading instructions in the first chapters.  For cast bullet loading, the Lyman Cast Bullet Manual #4 is brand new and modern.

If you are looking for some deep reading, see if you can get a copy of "Ken Waters Pet Loads".  It is expensive, so I would try and rent a copy from a Library or friend if possible.  Much of this will be above the head of the beginning reloader, though.

There are also several YouTube videos that do a good job of setting up dies and such and explaining things. Ammosmith has some really good videos there.  I believe he also has one setting up the Classic Cast Turret Press.

The ABC's of Reloading. Check your library. After you read it or after you start reloading, you'll have little use for it. There is no load info in the book, just "how to".

"Process" is defined in large part by the machine. How the dies are setup is defined by the machine. Average number of rounds per hour (output) is defined by the machine. How you load primers is defined by the machine. So I'd highly recommend the videos on the Lee web site dealing with that exact machine.

Skip the videos on YouTube. There are some good ones there, but there are also some very BAD (and I mean really bad ones) there. You need to learn to do it safely and correctly. Typically, if a video starts with "Hey guys, look how fast I can reload!", then it's a waste of time and brain cells. The only other videos I can suggest would be the ones from Ultimate Reloader who has videos on the Lee Cast Turret and LoadMaster.

Of course, your pals here will always be around to help you too. Ask lots of questions. There's no such thing as a "silly question" if it helps you.

+1 on Jameslovesjammie. get the Lyman Reloading Handbook 49th Edition and Modern Reloading Second Edition by Richard Lee. read through both of these before you start reloading.

I never thought about checking the library near me...I guess I did not even think they would have such books.

Honestly, I don't watch many Youtube videos. The "facts" given by so many "experts" are always questionable. Of course however, there are a few exceptions.

Watch the Lyman #49. You can get it in paperback (usually $5 less) or hardbound. Be sure you know what you're getting. The Lyman is going to become your "go-to book", so I suggest the hardbound.
