Exp. Targets, cheap and local

Just thought i'de share a little tip for you guys. I recently learned that cans of WD-40 explode almost like a propane tank when shot or hit hard. Those smaller cans often sell for around $1 and I bet will give off a good size but not to big explosion.

Fireball explosion or just boom? I thought WD40 was changed to CO2 instead of propane propellant recently? It doesnt work in potato guns anymore...

I prefer small 15 gallon garbage bags filled with oxygen/acetelyne welding gasses mixed 50/50.... I shoot them with a tracer from 75 yards. VERY loud. Easily 3 times louder than a tannerite target. No shrapnel either, since it's just explosive gas in a garbage bag.

Even though it's pretty safe, still.... dont do it. Bad idea.

Such targets will get you thrown out of any and all the ranges I belong to. It also gives shooters a bad rep due to the garbage and pollution it leaves. If the WA Dept of Fish and Game or Natural Resources catches you doing it there wil probably be a hefty fine. Please desist from such immature practices, if only for the good of our sport.

local range - knob creek allow tannerite, other exploding targets as long as it isn't too dry and the management agrees

perhaps not allowed where you are shooting, but to say that it gives all shooters a "bad rep" is a stretch as we clean it up or the range does

i've shot tannerite/ propane tanks that were nearly empty with flares nearby to set off the fireball/ cars with gas in the tank/ etc

typical machine gun range targets - it's fun and safe

if prohibited - fine - i'd not do it but - your comment of immature practices smacks of "fuddism" - please allow all shooters to practice whatever sport shooting is legal and safe rather than some narrow view of my way or the highway
