New cz75b purchase

I recently purchased a CZ 75B SA 9mm from them. It is listed as a 16 round magazine but they will ship it out to CA with a 10-round magazine.

In my case, when I placed my order, they told me they were out of the 10-round mags (but more are on the way) and if I wanted they could ship it with rebuild kits. I instructed them to wait for the next batch of 10-round mags.

Only waited a few days or so and they shipped it with CA legal 10 round magazines.

If the 9mm in question is the Matte Stainless, I just realized that particular model is not on the CA DOJ approved list.

On a separate note, is the cz75b ammo sensitive. Does a certain type / brand of ammo work better with this model?

About the only ammo that does not work well is Remington UMC. Everything else should be OK.

Also, most people agree 124gr is best as far as accuracy but 115gr is fine for target practice / plinking.

I recently purchased a CZ 75B 40S&W Bi-Tone from Damascus.  Very smooth transaction.  They don't charge shipping and I live in FL, so all I had to cover was the fee for my FFL to handle the transfer.  If Damascus has what you want, they would be a good source to work with. 

I recently sent my gun to David Milam, at Cajun Gun Works to have it converted to SA Only, new trigger, CGW sights, action work, etc.  It now has a crisp 3lb 1oz trigger pull and the gun runs perfectly with anything I put in it, including the 170gr SWC that I load.

I also recommend Damascus Gun Shop.  I got my Kadet Kit through them. 

My CZ 75b shoots everything including the cheapest steel case Russian ammo...............for which it was probably designed to shoot, since the gun is made in the Czech Republic.  Only ammo I've ever had a problem with was Remington UMC, which would give me a stove pipe in 1 out of 50 rounds or so.  I've heard many other gun owners with different models complain about Remington ammo either being dirty, or not performing properly, or underpowered.

I'm a California resident myself, Long Beach speficically, great weather, awesome surf, beautiful women, terrible gun laws. Managed to order up a 75 B in the .40 cal over the weekend, and they had another 15 in stock (Turners - Signal Hill). Sure they would ship to wherever you are if you were interested. They also had a P01 in their display but I'm sure that won't last too long. Can't wait to pick mine up on December 4th! Not that I'm counting or anything.

I haven't had any failures with UMC because I have never used it due to of all the complaints here about that brand of ammo.

Just noticed you are in Cali.  If you are in NorCal, try Vallejo (TripleA).  That's where I picked up my 75B SA.  On pickup last week, they had a 75BD and I think another B SA in stock (as well as the fancier stuff like P07, maybe phantom), as well as a .40.   

Yes, I had to pay more than MSRP.  I was told you could usually haggle with them, but on the CZ, they would not budge.

Newbie here wanting to share my findings.

I went through a lengthy process trying different 9mm semis at my local range and it came down to the Sig 226 and CZ 75.  Ultimately I decided the CZ was the gun for me and being in CA I had the same problem as Ara - no guns to be found locally and very few that I could find for sale out of state.  Plenty of 40s in stock locally but I really want a 9 and I want the 75B only (not the BD, not the SP01, etc.)

So I found one out of state, made the purchase and  just started the transfer process on a CZ75B.  They kept the mags that were supposed to come with the gun and I purchased some 10 round mags off of gunbroker.

When I made the purchase I checked to make sure the 75B was on the CA approved list but I didn't take the time to get into enough detail!  The gun I purchased is blue and noting the post above I see that this is not on the list!  So I am thinking that my local FFL is not going to be able to complete the transfer and I'll have to negotiate the return of the gun to the shop that sold it to me.  Then I'll be back to step 1 again.

From what I'm hearing nobody knows when more CZ75Bs are going to become available.  Our various state and federal governments are really driving gun sales right now.

Can it really be true that CA cares whether the 75B is the black polycoat or blued steel?  Are we that messed up in this state or is there more to the story that I am missing?

What do you experienced folks out there think?

I have been running Remington UMC through my CZ Shadow and 75B with no issue's.

My understanding is each type of firearm has it's own SKU number (model number) and that number is what CA uses to differentiate each firearm on their approved list. You're right, there is absolutely no difference between a Glossy Blue 75 B and a Black Polycoat 75 B except the coating on the metal...BUT...each firearm has a different SKU and therefore one is approved and one is not.

Yes. Once they expire and are no longer on the CA DOJ list, you can no longer purchase it stock. You'll have to obtain it by means of a PPT or SSE.



From my understanding is that the list is there for firearms deemed safe and approved for sale in CA. Manufacturers have to send that particular model of firearm to the CA DOJ to undergo safety testing.

If the particular model expires, the manufacturer must send that model again for testing. If it's not on the list, it doesn't necessarily mean that particular model is not safe. It just means that the manufacturer did not send one to the CA DOJ for testing.
