Galling problems?
« on: December 07, 2012, 10:10:00 PM »
Anyone having galling problems with the stainless on stainless?  Where should I put grease on a 75 B SS?  What kind of grease is best?

Thanks.

I would recommend TW25B. Or if you're opposed to a PTFE product I can recommend a product via PM. Not sure if I am allowed to promote products here.

Just get yourself some wheel bearing grease from any automotive store.  Right now I'm using Lucas Red & Tacky and Lubriplate #105.

I also am using high temperature wheel bearing grease.  Couple of small dabs where frame receives the slide.  Has made a world of difference.

I would use any type synthetic grease, such as Super Lube with a couple of drops of synthetic oil on the slide rails.

Yes, I had galling problems, and the gun was not dry. Be sure to use a good anti-galling agent on the barrel lugs.
