When I was watching the show and saw him hold up the 30 rounder and the 5/10 rounder, I THOUGHT he was violating the law.

I signed.

It will be amazing if he suffers any penalty at all.

Do we really want them to enforce that though? Yes, it might feel good to say "take that!" but how can we say that the ban is unwise and foolish with one breath but then insist that it is enforced with the next simply because we don't like the politics of the person in question?

Yes, because he violated a law deliberately. The law stands until it is repealed or declared un Constitutional, (which we devoutly hope for), but until that time it IS the law. When the time comes that it IS declared null and void, then those people there can have the same rights we enjoy here. We win one court case at a time.

Here's the article....

Yahoo News

Apparently, NBC called and asked permission to do this stunt, and the police said 'No'. And then he went away and did it anyway. That's why he needs to be arrested.

Also reported by Politico:

?NBC contacted [the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department] inquiring if they could utilize a high capacity magazine for their segment,? Gwendolyn Crump, a police spokeswoman, said in an email. ?NBC was informed that possession of a high capacity magazine is not permissible and their request was denied. This matter is currently being investigated.?

1000 bucks is chump change to NBC and no way they spend tax dollars to prove a point putting a guy this delicate in jail for a year over a 30 round mag...

So let me see if I understand this.  30 round mags are banned in the area that David Gregory reported in, well how the hell did he get a banned magazine?  I guess banning them won't stop anyone from getting their hand on them if they really want them.  Kinda like the bad guy....

Excellent point, one that needs to be on a picture of him waving the magazine around.

"David Gregory wants to ban all magazines like this one, as that will stop bad people from getting them. This magazine is currently banned in the city in which this interview was conducted. Obviously a ban did nothing to stop a mere reporter from getting one - how will it stop a real bad person?"

I have heard a one report that ATFE over ruled the DC police and stated NBC could have the banned item. I'd still like to see the guy arrested by DC police - ATFE cannot override a local jurisdiction.
