My new to me CZ-52 arrived today.  Opening the box up reminded me of Christmas when I wa a kid. It's a 54 model, has the crossed swords and 54 on the right frame. The left has the serial number, CB 07715 and 'rid'. The bottom the importers stamps showing it came through Knoxville TN and the top of the slide has the serial number and one little dimple. Other than those there's not a mark on it. All orginal gray finish and the insides don't show any wear at all.  I couldn't be happier.

Looks like you have a nice one there.  I like both of mine.  I have modified the slide stops on mine and I may put different sights on one of them.  Let us know how it shoots.

Well, I just got back from the range.  I'm still smiling. :D   As I read here, the grip position is a little different and will tend to shoot a bit low until the muzzle gets raised.  Once I concentrated on my sight picture, I found that this pistol is very accurate.  The longest I could shoot today was 50 feet and my last grouping of three was just one big tear in the 10 ring, about 1.25 inches long.  Darn fine weapon.  The recoil is less than I had anticipated.  I would say it is about the same as my P226 .40 cal.  The weight is considerable.  Similar to a 1911 would be my guess.  A buddy has a AMT Automag III (.30 carbine), also a lot of 'bang' for your buck and this pistol is more comfortable, shoots far more accurately, puts a smile on your face and I can buy 3 CZ's for the price of one AMT. The muzzle blast and the sound alone is worth every cent I paid.  So much so, I know where there are 4 more for sale and guess where I'll be tomorrow.  I can eat Top Raman for a week. :)   This is too much fun to have only one of these fine pistols.

There were a few others on the line at the time and since this is a new (to me) weapon, I loaded a single round and fired.  Most of the activity on the range stopped.  A few 'Holy <you know what> and 'My <you know who>s later. people wanted to know what I was shooting.  Most people had never seen or heard of one.  After I explained, then they wanted to shoot it.

I did learn it's best to take the furthest to the right position on the firing line.  It throws brass up to about 30 feet.  Granted it's a fairly high arc, so I don't worry about hitting someone directly, but the 're-entry' could startle someone.

So, my first range time with the 52 is this. Where have you been all my life?  It's a great compliment to my AK-47 also.  Now all I need is a CZ40B and 97B and I'll be set.  Well, not really, but . . .

If I wasn't a CZ fanatic before today, I certainly am now.

[edit] Well, I couldn't help myself.  I went up to the local gun store/range to pick up some ammo.  Came home with ammo and another CZ 52. Another 1954 model, in orginal gray and no re-arsenal markings.  This one came the Century Arms.

Have fun. Shoot safe.

The one in photo was bought from an individual on GunBroker.com and the other one that I haven't photographed yet I picked up at a local gun store/range.

It seems to me that it's about a 50/50 mix of the original grey or the black refinished ones.  I personally would check the guns stores in your area, then the gun shows and then online.  There are quite a few out there.

I like the grey finish the best also because it is the original.  I have been amazed at the smoothness of the machining on all of the 52s I've seen.  CZ did a excellent job, and especially considering it was in the 1950's Czechoslovakia.

Black or grey, these are fun pistols to shoot and attract attention at the range.
