Not only does it look "sheered off" but cocked at an angle as well. Almost as if it were used to pry at something, like the slide release for disassembly perhaps. I sure hope my mags don't just spontaneously sheer off for no reason.:eek

I'm sure it looks cocked only because the rear tabs are broken off and the front parts are the only thing holding it in place against the spring pressure.

I've had to replace the baseplates on all my 40B mags with metal ones. I used it for IDPA a couple times and all 4 baseplates cracked from being dropped during reloads. The plastic can be a bit brittle and the rear edge of the baseplate angling out like that is bad design for a situation where the mag will be dropped on the ground.
The bold type giveth, the fine print taketh away.

As I said these mags were brand new this was there first range visit and the gun had not even been stripped after it was received from CZ. I wanted to see if they fixed it. The baseplate is cheap plastic crap. I don't really care if anyone believes me or not, but don't imply that I am a lier>:  I thought other owners of this pistol might want to know about possible problems they might have to deal with. I'll end this thread now...................

I don't think anyone was attacking your honesty.  (Gunrfunz can be a little "direct" sometimes, but I don't think that he was trying to say you weren't telling the truth.)

Sounds like a defective baseplate in the example shown.  As noted above, those plastic base plates can break if they hit just wrong on a hard surface.

Standard CZ mags will work fine.  They will just leave a gap at the bottom.  (You can get standard baseplates from CZ.)  I'm sure they'll replace the bad one shown under warranty.

40Bs are among the least troublesome of all CZs.  Sorry to hear you've had problems.

I sold it at the gunshow today for $280 cash and bought a 5 inch Ruger 22lr Mark iii. I am not mad about his post but it sounded like an acuzation to me. Maybe I was taking it a little to serious. Enjoy your CZ pistols and happy shooting.............

It did not happen to be sold at the C&E Gun show in Mechanicsville, VA did it?  I bought one, used, at this gun show!  I only got one factory magazine.  The pistol was in very good condition.  I took it apart when I got it home and it was very clean inside and out!

Sorry to hear about your magazine base plate failure!  I have to wait until after Christmas to actually fire my new baby!  My wife says that it is my Christmas present!

Yours,
Bob T.

I sold mine in Pasadena, Texas at a small gunshow. Enjoy your pistol you will like it I think. I just had some bad luck with mine and did not want to spend money on it to get it where I wanted it.

Need some grips I have a nice set of Purple Heart wood grips for sale $40 shipped:D
