Scope rings on a 455 Evo
« on: May 03, 2013, 02:09:50 PM »
Hi all

First post... :).

I just purchased a 455 Varmint Evolution, should be here next week. That is going to be my first rifle ever, I'm quite new to shooting and before deciding which rifle I really searched all over. I really hope that my choice of a CZ 455 will be the right one...

Now I'm looking around for a scope to install, I'm deciding between a Nikon Prostaff 4-12x40, a Redfield Revolution or something like that. However the question I have is about the mounting rings: which height should I get to be sure it'll clear the lever? And, should I go with straight 11mm rings or should I install a Weaver adapter on top of the dovetail and then the rings? Advantages?

Thanks everybody in advance!...

Max

...not a very active forum, isn't it?... :(

Or, did I ask something wrong?

I am not a moderator, but welcome to the forum Yellowglider. There are no "stale" questions, just bide your time on replies, someone will answer you. As to the ring height, that will vary as to how the rifle fits you at the cheek weld, bolt clearance, and how close you want the objective end of rifle to the barrel. I have found the if I use a medium height ring, my cheek weld position is good, bolt will clear and have a good distance between the objective and the barrel. Hope this helps, and kudoos to viking for giving you the link to Rimfire Central.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will wait for the rifle to arrive and do some trials...
