Question on Pre B 85
« on: May 07, 2013, 11:29:25 AM »
Hey guys
First off, I love CZ pistols. My latest is a Pre-B 85 that could use some TLC but seems mechanically sound. It has fixed non-adjustable sights that are BTS. The front sight is slighty mushroomed and the right side of the rear sight is deformed slightly. So my questions are:
* How can I replace the damaged sights when I don't see any pin to punch or how to take      them off?
* Is there a list of parts ( recoil spring?)  I "should" replace to return it to some level of new-to-me baseline ability?
* I am replacing the firing pin spring/hammer spring, changing the hammer out, changing sear space etc... with a CGW kit. So there is that
* Is there a gun lube you prefer over gun oil?

Thank you for your time
Steve

Sounds like one of the century arms re imports?
Front sight were fixed on older CZ's So they need to be dovetailed in or silver brazed in place
Rear sight cut should be the same as todays guns.
Angus Duhhhh!

Hey Angus,
You nailed it. Its a CAI import that has got some wear. On further inspection the front side is bent left, along with being slightly mushroomed.  So, if I wanted to get the front side dovetailed in what are the time frames on turn around, how do I make that happen. I'm assuming I would need to have some modern replacements to put in at the same time. I will start looking at options.

Thanks for the help,
Steve

Hello Angus
If I wanted to modernize the front sight and get it dovetailed  how do I start that process with the CZ shop? I have a set of meprolight sights I can ship with the slide.  What would be the cost for cutting the front dove tail in the slide vs cutting and installing the sight. How long would that take to get that done?  I might try to home install the rear sights if it keeps the cost down significantly. Any thoughts on this?

Is it better if we PM about this

Steve
