Pre Ban CZ Magazines
« on: June 25, 2013, 07:29:14 PM »
I have always thought that pre ban all the CZ high cap magazines held 15 rounds and the 16 round mags did not arrive until the ban expired.

Am I correct or just confused?

I'm a little late to the party, but my 75B is an early "07".  Was the (10 year?) ban in effect then?  I lose track of years gone by. :-\

This B came with 16rd mags, and they I believe had them before 2007 as well.

Joe:
(years ago) I was told by CZ Mike that the 15 Round Mags were the PreBand Magazines and the 16 Rounders were for the Bs
The Bs can run (ok) on the 15s, but the (PreB) 75 doesn't run correctly on the 16s

HEY, I'm just passin' along the info I was told by Mike, the Head Smith and Justin, the CS Supervisor (back then) at CZ-KC
I figure they must have known something about it
At least a lot more than I know
Something about a difference in the Feed Lips
If you have both, the B and PreB Mags, I guess you can check it out
Just sayin'

The AWB sunset in 2004.

However, several states enacted their own AWB before that time, which has caused "pre-ban" (made prior to 1994) magazines to stay elevated in price.

There was a WTB in the Classifieds for "Repair kits for 16 round pre ban magazines" That is what prompted this thread. I was under the impression that there were NO 16 round pre ban magazines so the prospective buyer could be buying trouble.

The first reply to this thread was 3 weeks after I posted it and by that time it was no longer relevant.

This thread needs clarification. Are we talking about mags for the original CZ75 which is commonly referred to as the pre-B and pre-B meaning no firing pin block and taking a slightly different mag than the CZ75B which has the firing pin block?  Are we talking about mags made before, during or after the original assault weapons ban which ran from 1994-2004? I have 15 round mags for my CZ75B made before the ban and 16 round mags made after the ban.

OK, then what, the Post ('94) Ban 15 Round, but pre 16 Round Mags don't work with the CZ75 but work with the 75B ? ? ?
Now I'm not sure WHAT Mike and Justin was talking about  :o

The Pre-Bs will run 16rd mags if some enlarging is done top and bottom of the mag-well. A post here somewhere telling how to..
There was a transitional period that apparently had some mixed variations.
The years with pics are shown above

In an effort to clear up any questions regarding the OP I have added this link.

As far as I know and have been told there is no such thing as a Pre-Ban 16 round magazine. Sometimes trying to beat the system can be risky.

This does seem to be true that the 16 round mags  didn't show up till after the ban hit sunset in 2004 but all during the 10 year ban the 15 rounders were plentiful as they made them in afterburner before the ban went into effect. The CZ dealer in my area had a slew of them. We all know that if you had high cap mags before the ban you could keep them and if dealers or private parties had possession of mags made before the ban they were still legal for sale which was a laugh in and of itself since all through that era high cap mags could still be purchased.
