First USPSA Match
« on: August 06, 2013, 11:52:08 AM »
Wowzers!!!  It all happened so fast...and I loved it.

Had my first slow motion light bulb moment.  Shooting an array of poppers (6 total), had 2 misses on the first 4 and it dawned on me..."I'm jerking the trigger"  Immediately corrected it, and the last 2 fell in 2 shots.
Shot with a GM on the second run.  He gave me some good advice.  Also made me feel pretty good that he was impressed with how well I was picking up the games.  Shook his hand as he was packing up and thanked him for the pointers.  He gave me a wink and told me we'd do it again in 2 weeks.

IDPA is a load of fun, but USPSA is hands down more challenging and covers a much broader range of shooting skills.

Shot the El Prez classifier with what I believe was a B class percentage.  3 others shooting production in B class, and I feel I ran fairly solid in the pack.  Even had a few stage wins.

All in all, I'm really hooked now! Now let's hope my bank account can handle the ammo cost of shooting 7-9 matches a month.

Congrats! I've heard people should start with IDPA then move to USPSA if they want because for IDPA they tell you how to run it so there is, in a way, fewer surprises. Then once you get the hang of it move onto the free-style of USPSA.

Everyone gets hooked! I'm glad you had fun thats what its all about: meeting new people and having a blast.
