Shadow SA trigger pull weight
« on: August 04, 2013, 08:09:55 PM »
Angus,
I had a trigger job done at your shop...basically a polish and the double action is (for me) absolutely prefect but the SA is a bit light (for me).
Is there anything you suggest that I can do to give me a little more trigger prep/weight in SA... similar to a Shadow that has not had a trigger job.

Thanks for your time.

Im in for this one too.

Ive heard that you can screw with the sear spring to increase the pull weight but id rather not monkey around with that.

I have an SP01 with a ton of Cajun Gun works parts that uses the factory shadow hammer that has a very smooth, very light DA but a MUCH heavier single action due to the hook construction on the Shadow hammer.

The CZ custom hammer is nice but yeah, in single action it is absurdly light in my eyes.

So Angus, what say you sir? :)

All you have to donis cut the hooks lower, like u say similar to the shadow hammer!
But the trigger is not that light, probaly weight in at around 5lbs SA if u weight it, the sear break is light but that something to behold, makes it easier to shoot the pistol faster!
Angus Duhhhh!

If the SA trigger weight is the only concern,  then you can increase the trigger spring weight.  This will only be noticed in SA.  "Carefully" bend the spring's tang (located in the slot) to provide more spring tension.  Don't get carried away bending it, but you can add 4- 5 ozs which is very noticeable.

Angus, always the helpful gent when you need him. Like some English CZ wielding crime fighter. I'd watch that
Remington R1 Enhanced, Chiappa Rhino 200DS, Sarsilmaz K2 45.

The problem with increasing the TRS pressure will be an increase in overall SA trigger weight I will not really affect the sear break,
Lets say right now we have
TRS at 3.5 and Sear break at 1.5 that's 5lbs
if you alter the sprig
TRS at 4.5 and sear break at 1.5 that's 6lbs

The sear break is what makes people a little worried. The "first pressure" is not really caluclate when puling the trigger?

Angus,

So the answer is to cut the hooks deeper on the competition hammer to  give me a little more trigger prep/resistance to brake  the shot in SA...great!

So what is the best way for me to do that without ruining my competition  hammer?

Thanks Again

I agree ...CZ Custom can fix it !    When I got mine , the SA pull was 2.8# !  ( measured with 2 different trigger weights at 2 different times) Yikes ! Too light for this clutz !  :P

Anyway, the CZ Custom guys fixed it. They set it up for 4.25 lbs per my request.  I couldn't be happier !   mike

Well I recently found out that my trigger pull weight and SA break weight are not too light.  The problem was my chrono ::).
It's is giving me PF's that are as high as 137 (on match chron's) when I thought I was 130PF Avg.
Now that I adjust my load (down) to Avg. 130 PF (tested on other chrono's) all the problems with my SA have vanished and my points and times have come back to where they should be.
Live and learn...
