I think I got a loading compliment at today's IDPA
« on: November 10, 2013, 06:52:27 PM »
Beautiful sunny day today in Oregon, just perfect for the IDPA club match.  On the 3rd or 4th stage one guy asks me what powder I use?  I tell him titegroup and ask him why.  He says because my ejected cases land in a nice little pile about 5 feet away from me!  I guess that means my powder drops are consistent.  It may also mean that my beautiful custom 75 shadow is humming perfectly along.  I sure like shooting my reloads in my favorite 9mm CZ and cringe at the price of ammo on the shelves.

Nice.  :)  It definitely makes you feel like you're doing something right when all the brass are huddled together.

Shows good consistency!  Good job.
Now if the target has similar "groups", then you've really hit pay dirt.  ;)

I thought that was a CZ feature. Gotta love consistency.

That may be more of a product of using a very fast powder. I was trying out some Ramshot Competition on Sunday and my CZ piled all the cases, min to max load, 12 inches away from the gun. All 30 cases were in an 8 inch diameter pile right at my feet.

Very strange.   ;)

Unusual to say the least.  I shooting in a local Steel Challenge this weekend with a P-01 and the brass was hitting the score keeper and anybody else 15 feet away.  This makes me wonder if a faster powder such as Tight Group would help quell the brass hail storm from a compact.  I was using 4.5gr HP-38 behind a 115 LRN.

The slide speed drives the ejection distance.  The recoil spring controls the slide speed.
A heavier bullet uses a lighter load for the same PF, so that also brings the ejections in closer.

"At your feet" usually means the recoil spring may be just a skosh too heavy for the load being used.  ;)  Is he smiling?
