Peep sight for VZ58, plus a suggestion
« on: October 02, 2009, 09:03:32 PM »

Dan -

Are there any peep sights out there compatible with the normal front sight, rather

Than the issue ramp sights?

And for Armoredman;

Perhaps we should have an "Ask Dan" thread..........

All right, 'Nuck, don't tease me.

Is there a site I can actually look at them,

Or are they Canuck Unobtanium?

Funny you ask.  I have a prototype peep sight made specific for the vz.58 sitting on my desk.  It fits perfectly in a rifle - I just have to take it to the range to try it out.  It's on my short list of things to do ;D  Availability and price are unknown at this time.  I'll keep you posted.

Thanks,
Dan

I'd also be very interested in a peep sight.

Just got my VZ58 from Czechpoint last week and it looks great.
I was going to the range today to try it out but they aren't open Mondays.  :(

I'm sure that you need an experienced VZ hand to throughly field-test the product before releasing it to the general public!

Yrs. Truly

While I have aperture sights on a few of my rifles and enjoy shooting with them I have to wonder if target acquisition would be as easy as it is with the stock sights? The VZ isn't exactly a target rifle to begin with. Rather than MOA it's more like MOM (minute of man). 8" shoot 'n' see targets at 100 yards are the norm for my VZ. That's all I'm concerned with because most shooting with this little rifle would likely take place at much closer ranges IMHO. I use a set of XS Ghost ring sights on my HK91 and they are super. I find target acquisition with ghost rings to be much quicker than with peep sights. For a battle rifle like the VZ that might be the answer. Just a thought.
