CZ 75 Shadowline from CZ UB
« on: September 05, 2014, 12:42:12 AM »
Well ok I love CZ's.  I traded off my Shadow  a couple of years ago in a period when I decided to go polymer with a bevy of M&P's.   For competition the guns work soooo well in IDPA but I had a hole in my safe for a new CZ.

I went with the CZ Shadowline from CZ UB.  Unlike the regular Shadow it does not have a FLDC something I did not like or need on my original Shadow.  The 75 Shadowline gun sells up here for $1,100cd,  or around $925US.

I like the gun and prefer the up swell beavertail as opposed to the older version found on my CZ 85 Combat.  I also like the fact I can reverse the mag release to the right side as I use my trigger finger to hit the slide release on my M&P"s in competitions as, for me, it is faster.

Tomorrow I intend to head to the range and put a couple hundred rounds through her and see how she shoots.  From dry firing I can see where a lighter mainspring may be in order.  DA trigger pull is smooth but heavy.  My 85 Combat has had some work done on her and enjoys a much lighter pull and perhaps a but smoother.

Overall I am pleased with the purchase.  If it shoots as well as it looks it will have found a long term home.

ps Not sure who thinks slim safety levers is a good idea but someone must and I may get to like them.

Took my gun out today and put 200 rd through the gun.  As expected the gun ran flawlessly.  At 20 yards I blew out a six inch circle free style.  The trigger is smooth but heavy.  A 15lb mainspring should solve that problem.  The screw holding down the spring that holds the mag release is tighter than a...well it is to tight for me to get it to move.  I prefer my mag releases to be accessible from the right side as I utilize my trigger finger to drop the mags.  Not sure why CZ feels it necessary to torque down the darn screw so hard when they offer the ability for folks to reverse the mag release.  I'l take it to my 'smith and let him reef on the darn thing.

The gun was designed for IDPA SSP division where the hammer is started fully down.  That has to account for the useless safety levers.  They are far to slim.  I may order a left hand safety for a CZ75 to give me a bit more purchase.  The wider ones CZ Custom offer are not likely IDPA approved for SSP Division.  I may have to call Angus for his opinion.

All in all I love the gun.  The aluminum grips make the grip very slim and are a nice touch.

I'll post a picture with one of my targets tomorrow.

Take care

Bob
