Grips for Tristar T-120
« on: December 30, 2013, 09:11:20 PM »
Anybody know if the rosewood CZ grips on Ebay are any thinner than the stock T-120? The stock grips aren't bad for my hand, but it feels a lot nicer in my left hand. I'm guessing that a very slight difference in thickness would make a world of difference for me.

These are the grips in question. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-ROSEWOOD-CUSTOM-DESIGN-CHECKERED-GRIPS-SET-FOR-CZ-75-85-FULL-SIZE-C133-/111232515029?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19e5f97bd5

I got wood grips from Thai Ebay sellers for my Tristar C-100 and S-120.  I did not notice them being any thinner.  Pretty close to the original, but I did not measure.

Thanks. Guess that kills that option.

The lava rock stippling looks nice. Just wondering about the thickness though. anyone have them or know the measurement?

You could always ask the seller. Hopefully they will know how thick they are in relation to the stock grips. If they are strong enough they can be sanded down if done carefully.

Might get a set of those just for the hell of it, for 18 bucks. Looks like it would be a little complicated to thin them down, though.

Got an email from Nicholas at Coppergungrips.com. Says he's working on a thin lava rock cz grip for both compact and full size CZ75's. About three weeks out. The compact will be a dramatic reduction in width, ( as much as 1/8 inch per panel ) The full size won't be quite as drastic. I'm on the list for a set of the full size for my T-120, so I'll let everyone know how they fit the Tri-star, and how they feel compared to stock.

Well I ordered the thin Lavarock grips. They should be here Monday. Nicholas says they are so much better than the originals, that he has discontinued the originals! He also makes the minor adjustment for the Canik/Tristar pistols. I'm anxious now!

Got my grips today! I like them. Noticeable difference in comfort, and very grippy.

Original/right side

Original/left side

Lava grips/right side

Lava grips/left side

Again. if you have a Canik, he makes the adjustment for you so you don't have to fiddle with re-drilling screw holes. I did notice that it was possible to go too tight on the screw and affect the function of the gun. Backed off, it is still tight, though, and the slide and safety function normally. Here's the link again if you want a set for yourself. (please note, the pics on his site haven't been updated to the thin grips yet)

Very Nice Grips!  8)  Lava Rock?  ???  Very interesting!  Did not know you could use it for this.

That's what they are called. They are actually some type of plastic, and they feel really nice compared to the stock grips. I don't know how he gets the texture the way it is, but it's very similar to grip tape. There's a bit of a palm swell and they feel thinner and really nice in the hand compared to the stock grips. I think the over all look is a little more refined than the stock also.
