SAR B6P Trigger Pin Walking Out
« on: April 11, 2014, 04:49:54 PM »
Hello all, after about 40 rounds the trigger pin starts backing out on my B6P FS, anyone else seeing this?  Any easy fixes?  Thanks.

Mine did the same. Sent it back to EAA and they put a different type pin in and have had no problems since.
They do not give a RMA so I had to pay shipping ($75.86) and $20.00 for warranty repair. Kicked the price of the pistol up another $100.
I do like this pistol and it is accurate and reliable now.

You could Loctite it, cold peen it, or put a bow the pin.  I've done all three methods on different firearms with success.

If you cold peen it or put a bow in it then it should be a small amount.  When I was a full time gunsmith I often had to deal with virgin parts.  Meaning, I had to drill my own holes and friction fit the pins.  The pins needed to be just a few ten thousands larger than the pin hole.  If it were me I would try blue Loctite first then move on, if it didn't work, to peening or bowing the pin.  Sometimes getting a new pin from the manufacturer doesn't work.

Or you could ship the pistol back to the manufacturer.

Thanks, Paul

Ouch on $100 for just getting a pin replaced :(

I had this happen on my Hi Power, so I used blue LocTite.  It has been solid for 500 rounds and counting...  I bet that will do it.

I have a B6P compact, love it!

I am surprised that yours walked out I actually had a hell of a time getting mine out of my compact so I could tear it down for customizing.

My B6P has already made one trip back for repairs, they removed the trigger pin at that time and re-installed the original pin so maybe the pin tolerances were reduced enough to allow the pin to back out.  I found a very good video on youtube detailing how to install a new Henning trigger on a Witness, the kit comes with a new trigger pin that is threaded with a nut at one end of the pin.  I'm going to contact them to see if it might fit the SAR, a little pricey at $18.00 for a pin but if it fits it should take care of the problem.

LockTite as mentioned should work fine. But a local gunsmith should be able to take care of it and certainly no where the 100 dollar range
