.22 conversion for EAA Witness PS
« on: April 01, 2014, 06:47:10 AM »
For my EAA Witness PS 9mm:

I got a .22 conversion from Bud's Gun Shop. It was $140.00 plus shipping. It came in a black Tanfoglio case and included one magazine, cleaner and the slide, barrel, guide rod and spring. One thing I thought was neat was it came with an adjustable rear site. Some of those costs half what I paid for the whole thing!

Took it to the range and tested it. For the most part it did well. The only time it had a problem I wasn't shooting it so I'm not sure what happened. I just had to rack the slide again and all was well. I don't think it was stripping off the next round from the magazine everytime.

Here's a short video and some pictures.

Cool!

I bought a similar system for a Sig 226.
It is nice to shoot but the Sig doesn't like cheaper (affordable?) ammo.

I did not have the same issues witht eh magazine.

I was already despicable, long before it was cool!

Aguila makes slow .22 LR ammo, normal speed and high speed .22......My .22 kit only wants to function with the high speed stuff (1200 fps).  When I put that ammo in the mag, I get 100% reliable function.

The .22 conversion is nice, but I have a Ruger 22/45 that is more accurate.  But just for practice with the Tanfoglio the .22 is fun.

That's a great deal on that conversion.  I picked one up several months ago and it was 200 plus shipping from MidwayUSA.  Mine works great, no fitting required, just popped it on and had no problems with it firing.  It ate up all the 22 I tried in it, Winchester m22, Federal champion 525 round bulk box, and CCI AR tactical.  Granted these were all quality HV 22 rounds, but I had no issues.

Now, the large frame, on the other hand, I did have some issues.  I ordered the large frame conversion from buds for the same price you paid for the small frame conversion.  It fit right on either of my match model lowers, but could not get the darn thing on a standard large frame 9mm.  It was go on, but it was hanging up if you tried to cycle it.  It had more jams than the small frame converion did.

Anyway, I probably need to smooth some of the edges or rails or something on the large frame conversion, but the small frame converison functions very good.

Will this .22 conversion fit other clones? I  tried my Kadet 22 on a Canik C-100 9mm frame and it was too tight a fit, only goes on about half way. The Kadet works great on a CZ 75B 9mm frame, so I don't want to modify something that works. The Canik 9mm slide fits the 75 B, but the CZ 75B 9mm slide also only goes on the Canik frame about half way again. It was cold around here and I had some time to try fitting different combinations, just wondering if anyone tried this EAA 22 conversion on a Canik C-100. A picture of the left side of the EAA conversion slide would show if the notches and cut -outs are the same. Anybody got one?

The small frame 22 conversion won't fit on any of the caniks I have.  I tried it on a p120, shark fc, t100, and an s120.  If you remove the spring/guiderod and barrel, the slide will go all the way on, but hangs up a little.  With the barrel in, the part of the barrel where the takedown pin goes through will not fit in the caniks due to being too wide.
