recoil rods question
« on: April 19, 2014, 11:24:09 PM »
My 1998 CZ97B came with a stubby recoil rod that allows the spring to flop around a bit when putting the slide back on. I saw and ordered the new CZ version that is over twice as long, but not full length and, I found on delivery, is about 1/2 the diameter of the original. Do the new 97s come with a flat spring?

OK, my answer is no. Playing with both rods, I found the original is too big to go through the hole in the spring housing. The new version, while not a FLGR, does fit through the hole in the spring housing. With the slide locked back the short rods nose is just inside the rear part of the hole. The new rod goes though. The short rod will enter completely into the spring housing.

On another note, the original recoil spring is significantly shorter than any replacement spring. I have new, in the package, 13# & 16# recoil springs that are exactly the same length. The 14# & 15# springs are different lengths from the rest of them.
I have an email to Wolff asking about this.

Just spoke with Wolff. If this isn't somewhere else, they provide the springs for CZ-USA warranty and CZ Custom.
