New FAB/mako mags
« on: February 19, 2016, 06:49:22 PM »
Well, I received my 2 new polymer mags in fde and took them to the range yesterday. The good; they load, feed and eject great. They look nice, seem durable and the window is helpful.
The bad; only 1 thing and I feel an important one - they do not lock the bolt back after the last shot. I tried both mags in 4 different rifles. I also used some regular mil. mags, to make sure there were not any problems with my rifles. I loaded them with 10, 20 and multiple 30 rounds with the same problem. I contacted Yoav at zahal to discuss the problem. Will advise when I get some answers. Hopefully it's just an early production problem.   :(  >:(

Still waiting on 2.

Everything plastic, or are locking lugs steel?

So does the magazine have a correct follower for BHO? Does the magazine body have the channel for the BHO tab running along the back?

Did you try dropping the rifle from shoulder height, on to the buttstock with mag loaded and inserted (no round in chamber, on safe)

How about loaded a mag in gun and slamming mag down into solid surface (wood table) to check the locking lips durability?

Did you run over one with a vehicle?

The post above is opinion, and I am probably totally wrong, so please pardon me if I offend anyone in any way. I am speaking only for myself and just sharing my thoughts, not trying to start an argument with anyone, and if you disagree with anything I have said, I concede your correct.

The mags are all polymer. They do have the bho channel and seem to have the correct follower. Haven't dropped or banged the mags on anything yet, in case I need to return them. Definitely didn't run them over for same reasons. Will advise when I get more info from zahal.

Does the bolt lock back when you hand cycle it on an empty FAB magazine?  My best friend purchased a black FAB magazine for me to test and bang up to see if these would be worth getting a few of.  I just got it in today and did a couple of quick tests.  On both the original bho that came with my rifle and my Zendl tbr, the bolt locks back on the FAB when I hand cycle the bolt.  I am curious if you are having the issue when you manually pull the bolt back on the magazine.
