Difference between 75 Shadow and SP-01
« on: May 14, 2014, 06:21:18 PM »
Hey guys need a little help.

Been looking at the CZs, I'm a little new :)

I see the shadow models dont have the firing pin block so you can get a better trigger.  CZCustom has a 75 Shadow SA/DA 9MM for sale, does anyone know if that gun is lacking anything over say a SP-01 Shadow, really dont want the rail, anything else??

I think I'm ready to decide on the 75 Shadow unless someone can talk me out of it.

Thanks
Tony

Nope the only real difference is the absence of a rail.  You have options re sights (fixed vs adjustable on the target models) and levels of trigger work (customs vs regular old shadows).  Any shadow is hard to find.   I have both a 75 shadow and an sp01 shadow they are both fantastic pistols.

I basically agree with twowheels.

I shoot the 75 Shadow Custom and my son owns an SPO1 Custom Shadow.
I bought mine with the HAJO Competition rear sight and like it.  IMO,  The short reach disconnector is also well worth the money.

The absence of the rail changes the weight and balance slightly.  For me,  transitions are easier/faster with the lighter front end.  Maybe the heavier front end gives some faster sight recovery,  but I'm only a C-class shooter and don't see much if any difference between mine and my son's with the rail.

You can't lose either way.  Both are great pistols..

I have both a 75 and an SP-01 Shadow. I personally like the balance of the 75, as it doesn't feel as nose heavy. But YMMV, and both are great.

Other than the weight difference, the SP-01 has checkering on the front and back of the grip, a slightly beveled magwell, and a slightly different shaped trigger guard. But that's getting nitpicky. :-)
