Any reason not to buy Tristar T100? Holster reccommendation?
« on: March 23, 2013, 11:30:01 PM »
Just got my CCP and was planning on buying a PCR.  After a fruitless search, I went to my local Academy and found the Tristar T100 which looks to be a slightly smaler version of the C100.  After seeing such a low price, I originally poo-poo'ed the brand but when I got home I did some research and found only one online review of a Canik 55 product that was not totally favorable.  My Academy doesn't carry the c100 so I cannot compare the 100 vs the 200.  Other than styling and a slightly shorter barrel on the t100, is there any appreciable difference?  If I do get the T100, can anyone recommend a good holster or another more popular pistol that the T100 is compatible with as far as finding a holster-(if the holster is made for brand X then it will also fit the T100)?

Thanks.  I look forward to posting on this forum.

Hi clisby-
I have a T100 and love it. I bought it for cc,  what attracted me was the smooth sides. I am really impressed by the accuracy and shootability. A couple of differences when compared to the c100.
1) Has funny non Cz front sight so swapping sights more difficult.
2) The factory trigger on mine is better than my buddies c100 (ymmv) could be gun comparison not a model comparison.
3) Finding a rigid holster is a little tougher, there aren't a lot of quick off the shelf options or at least I couldn't find any that I liked.  I found Zahal.org had the best selection, you'll need to look for the baby desert eagle semi-compact size or the Jericho 941 fs/rs semi-compact (3.9" barrel).  I went with a Frontline Trilayer holster which should be arriving from Israel this upcoming week(s). I'll report back fit and finish when it arrives. http://www.zahal.org/products/front-line-trilayer-holster-for-jericho-941-baby-eagle?path_parent=218389

Bottom line, IMO the c100 is easier to find aftermarket parts & accessories because of the close similarities to the cz75 compact. For me, I really like the slab sides and cleaner look so I went with the T-100.  From what I can gather both use the sames springs, magazines,  and grips.  You really can't go wrong with either.

Schecky and Brian are working on solutions for the T-100 that should remedy some of the short comings. I can't wait until they're available!

Schmeky is David from Cajun Gun Works and he makes quality upgrade parts for the CZ and Canik's. You can see a lot of his stuff in the Home Gunsmithing forum here. My CZ is the best shooting gun I have shot thanks to David.
Brian Ahearn is Easton Firearms Refinishing and has some of the best looking guns. You can see his work on here with Canik's.

When I was researching the T-100 I easily saw the genetic link with the Jerico. I ordered a Front Line K4080RP from CDNn for the princely sum of almost $15. It fits perfectly. It is Kydex(?) paddle with no belt loops but a "channel" for belt to pass through between holster and paddle. It works fine, not exactly an heirloom but works as intended. No regrets other than not spending enough.
Have you ever seen a statue honoring someone who left well enough alone?

I have all 3 TriStars that Academy sells, and I prefer the T-100 over the other 2.  I think it feels better, and I can fit 3 fingers around the grip better than I can on the C-100.  The C-100 is either a hair shorter or the grip contour allows a better fit.  The S-120 fits just fine, but is a little too large to be easily carried concealed.  In an informal session, my 2 shooting buddies came away liking the T-100 the best.  Buy it and enjoy!

I have the T-100 and find that the IWB holster from readyholster size CA-L fits well. It was $21.95 and I received it in just a few days.
