Help!! Should I buy a PCR Hybrid?
« on: October 01, 2002, 11:22:39 PM »
Greetings all, I've been reading this forum now and then for the past few months and really enjoy it.  I just registered, so I'm brand spanking new and I need your help.

My local gun dealer has a PCR hybrid that he is holding for me until Friday--I'm debating on whether or not to buy it.  Here's my situation...

My wife has an actual PCR that she carries CCW-- and I love it (she won't give that thing up for anything, though).

Currently I carry a Beretta 8040, CCW, but I am going to replace it (thinking of .357sig or 40s&w in Glock or Sig, just can't make up my mind).  My Beretta was my first serious handgun, but I have found that I shoot other makes more accurately.  (I'm embarrassed to say that my wife shoots my gun better than I do, but this probably isn't the first time you've heard that.)

Anyway, thought I could get this hybrid in the meantime...  I am a little conscious of dropping down to a 9mm, after carrying the 40, but I know that there is no such thing as a magic bullet.  I just ordered some Remington 115 gr. +P+ for my wife's gun (and possibly my new hybrid) which should be sufficient for most situations.  Anyway, don't mean to ramble on here.

My final question is: will I enjoy the hybrid as well as the original?  Thanks everyone, look forward to your comments.

Bosco,
Yes, yes ...er...first things first.  Welcome to the forum.  Your first post...congrats.....
Your wifes gun differs little from the hybrid...frame and trigger are the 2 differences.  IMO..the Hybrid is an outstanding gun.
I like the frame and the smooth trigger makes for smoother pull over my serrated trigger.
Now for the rough one...your Cougar really is a great gun also.
Your looking at the Sig/Glock in Sig/40 is also another good choice..IMO the 40 is one of the best defensive rounds made.
But....youre right, the magic bullet thing..placement above all is what I preach and frankly I LOVE POWER :D   I carry a snub 357...."BOOM" , a K40 and my PCR...stocked with Fed +P+'s.
I dont feel the slightest bit "undergunned" while carrying any of them....in the least.
To answer your question...Ya Id jump on the PCR/Hybrid.  What is his asking price anyway?  Let us know....
Shoot well

ut83,

Thanks for your input.  I just knew that I would get the support I needed for a rational decision on this forum...

Anyway, the price is $467-- and they have layaway  :)

Ok I'm confused here, we're supposed to be rational about our handgun purchases?????????????:P  We're not just supposed to buy them because we want them???????  Here I am doing it all wrong again.
