vz-58 optics mounts
« on: October 19, 2016, 01:18:38 AM »
Hi all, this is my first post here-- I am the proud owner of a new vz-58 with the fixed synthetic stock (longtime owner of cz and cz-pattern pistols though), I have a version drilled and tapped for the side-rail and I'm wondering a few things.

1) Could I use an ak-302 instead of a vz-304 (for compatibility with my AKs)?
2) Could I use a vz-304 on an AK (again, compatibility is nice)?
3) Assuming [1] or [2] is possible, what would be the disadvantages?  The vz-304 appears substantially shorter but aside from that would the same upper mounted on each give me a different left/right position over the bore?
4) I really like the looks of the Obzor 1P63-- would this with its integrated mount be a good fit fore the vz-58?
5? Same as [4] but for the Venezuelan PK-A-- with the additional question of will the vz-58 eject correctly with a scope that long?

I think that's a lot for one post.  I would be grateful to anyone who could answer even one.  Thanks in advance.

Although I don't have an answer for you regarding compatibility, I would definitely say that the ak-302 would be a better option. It sits lower, where as the vz-304 sits too high IMO. Why not get an Aimpoint or Fastfire instead of the Obzor 1P63. The Obzor looks cheaply made.

You would have to re-zero every time you moved rifles.  That's not really a good idea.

Use a VZ-304M on an AK and it wont mount.  Use an AK-302M on a VZ and it will put the optic even higher.

I'd use them on their respective guns, there is a reason I spent all the money developing them.

Thanks Horse, I'd already come to more or less the same conclusion and have ordered the VZ-304 and AK-303 (both 2nd gen, not sure if that is the same as the "M") from Primary Arms, and do not intend on mixing them between rifles.  I'm not familiar with reverie-- did spellchecker perhaps mangle rezero into that?

Bigdude I also took your advice and went ahead and ordered an Aimpoint PRO.
