I thought the PCR was on the list - at least until the end of this year, but the LGS (Rifle Gear) told me that by the time they "might" be able to get me one toward the end of the year it would be off the list and then they could only do it under the "single shot exemption."  That seemed like way too much of a hassle and given that the P01 has gotten very good reviews - and is also not easy to get in SoCal, I decided to go for it.  Though I didn't get to shoot it, it fit very well and I think I'll like it very much.  The LGS told me that fewer and fewer guns will be on the roster due to the continuing more and more stringent CA requirements.

So after finding out that getting a 75 D PCR in CA would be very difficult (unless I find a used one) - I was able to find a P-01 and decided to buy it.  Pick it up in 10 days.  Looking forward to getting it to the range.  Again, thanks for the replies and advice.
Congrats on your P-01, very nice piece for sure. However if you really want to get a PCR which I'm pretty certain is not on the roster, you can still purchase online out of state and have it shipped to your CA FFL who can SSE-it. Jerry Brown signed the bill but you still have 5 months for it to take effect. it will cost you a bit more but you'll get to have the PCR you've wanted.

If a LGS had both, I might have gotten the PCR - mostly because it looks just like a smaller version of my 75BD -  but I think I should be fine with the P01 - I get it pick it up and try it out in 9 days.  Although there are a few PCRs out there from out of state dealers, I really like to handle the actual gun I'm  buying if at all possible - at the LGS where I purchased my P01 they had two of them and I liked the trigger and sights on one more than the other.  Hadn't really thought about using a light rail before, but might be a nice addition.

Picked up my new P-01 yesterday and took it to the range today with my CZ 75BD.  Shot 75 rounds each of 115 grain 9mm Fiocchi and Blazer Brass through each pistol without any hitches (unlike the almost 10% failure to eject rate I had with using MagTech 115 grain 9mm through my 75 BD a few days ago).  Surprisingly, I was slightly more accurate with the P-01 and while the 75BD has less recoil, I really liked the feel of the P-01.  Very glad I made the purchase.  Thanks for all the advice that was given.

Interesting you said that salsa.  My first CZ was a P-01 and later bought the BD.  I was assuming I could shoot the P-01 so well because I was so familiar with it.  The P-01 is balanced so well........maybe that's why you (and I) shoot it so well.

The P-01 was my first CZ too.  I bought it as a carry weapon.  Got the 75BD when I found it at the PX for a price I couldn?t pass up.  It?s my range gun and home defense gun.  You can?t beat 18+1 with Crimson Trace on the nightstand.  Recently picked up a 75D PCR as the new carry weapon.  Cajun Gun Works parts were just received for this one.  The P-01 may be re-purposed as a secondary Home Defense gun.  Already has Crimson Trace; just need to add a light to the rail and a 16 round magazine of Hornady Critical Defense.

Like a few others have noted, I tend to shoot tighter groups with the P-01 over the 75BD.  Don't know why.

I sometimes forget what people in other States have to go through just to buy a gun:  Be on the approved list, magazine limitations, waiting periods, one gun purchase per 30 days, etc.  It?s nice living in a State where with a Conceal Carry Permit, you can walk in your local gun shop  and walk out 10 minutes later, purchase in hand.  And you can get a Concealed Carry Permit here.

Congratulations on the new P-01. No matter what I bring to the range, my P-01 is always included, as I just enjoy shooting it. I have no problems with consistent accuracy at standard targets of 25 yards and beyond. Just a pleasure to shoot tight groups with this extremely well balanced pistol. Enjoy!

I'll be the oddball here and interject my own question for y'all...

As of right now the only true CZ I currently have is the P-07 Duty, with a new '14 model on the way, in addition to a couple of clones (Witness PS, Sar K2P), and a wanna-be clone (Grand Power) haha. I shoot the P-07 Duty and wanna-be clone best, and like the story goes, the CZ bug has bitten me! Seriously considering the P-01 as my next purchase.

My question is, other than the perfect ergos I'm used to, what kind of difference will I notice with the P-01 concerning it's trigger (both DA & SA) and is it's decocker as smooth as the one on my P-07?

Love my CZ family (and it's quarter-cousin from next door lol)! Swore I'd never carry a hammer-fired pistol ever again; CZ changed that!

Hey Cyanide,

I'll do my best to answer your question. I've owned a P-07 Duty (the older model) and own a P-01 (75D Compact). I can tell you that the decocker is much smoother on my P-01 than it was on the P-07. The P-07's even caused my thumb some hurt after a while, not smooth at all.

The trigger on my P-07 was better than my P-01's. I feel that SA is about the same for both, but the DA was so much smoother with less stacking in the P-07.

Those have been my experiences. Hope that helps.

Thanks Genin!

Going to make a separate thread so this one doesn't get hijacked by my question.
