The Good and the Bad.
« on: August 07, 2014, 10:23:27 AM »
Took my two remaining Compacts to the range last night.  There was good news and bad, sorta.  The good news?  I don't know if this happens to everyone but it happens to me fairly often.  Although I always put a mag or two through my carry gun on every range trip, I don't necessarily focus on it.  About once a month I do focus on it and make sure I shoot a hundred rounds or so through it and do some drills.  It seems like every time I do this I fall back in love with it.  I swear that the trigger just gets better and better and smoother and smoother.  Man, I love that gun.  Ok, enough of that.  So I also took my "other" Compact.  It is, except for its black polycoat vs. the satin nickel, an exact duplicate of the carry gun and has the exact same Cajun goodness.  For whatever reason I think everyone who has a couple of custom guns knows that each gun will turn out just a bit different and mine are no exception.  It is difficult to quantify or explain the difference but I can feel it when I shoot them.  Anyway, so I was doing some fun shooting, Mozambique drills at 15yds, etc., with Compact #2 and I realized something.  I love this gun, too.  I had it posted for sale but there is no way I can part with it.  It is just too good.  Funny how I shoot the Compacts even better than the full size guns.  So beware my friends.  The combination of CZ and Cajun goodness may very well give you something you simply cannot part with...at any price.   ;D

I gotta concur.

Luv shooting my PO6 more and more, especially with the Cajun upgrades!  Just ran about 30rnds thru it and am completely amazed at the ease of pointing and accuracy.  I do have to admit:  I have done some metal removal to make the gun fit my hand a lot better than stock which has lessened the felt recoil even more.

everyone should have 1 or 2!

I am curious.  Where did you remove metal from?  Please include a picture if possible.

I'll try to get a pict here,   not very good with that kind of technology.

However, I will do my best to verbally describe,  I removed mainly from under the trigger guard to provide a 'deeper undercut to allow a 'higher' handhold, plus coupled with removing a large portion of beavertail area and tapering the associated sidewalls to allow my hand to 'grip' it closer thus allowing again a higher handhold, and bringing my medium/large hands to be able to easily reach the mag release and slide stop with little / to no hand repositioning to use said items,   also did machine my thin aluminum grips to be only .015" above the frame's for the thinnest possible grip, which allows an improved grip for some, although I do vacillate and switch back to original rubber palm swell grips from time to time.    OR,  even leave strong hand side original grip on and leave the 'machined thin grip' on the other which allows a better 'thinner' grip profile for CCW as well as what I have observed that individuals grip differently with strong hand vs weak hand, which I have found allows a better weak hand hold with the mentioned machined thin grip.

hope that helps a bit,

I do believe my improvements have improved accuracy, improved felt recoil, improved utilization of the firearm to max potential.   I do need to start to research a Cerakote company to complete the upgrade.

respectfully,
Kevin

ISOW,

thanks,  appreciate the great reminder of someone on the CZ line that is able to complete with respect to the Cz line of guns.   always trust a personal response as a great 1st contact.

thank you very much,

would love if Bryan could do my CZ P06 and give a photo.  feel awkward trying to do a photo now, the gun being unfinished, and in rough shape due to metal removal.

thanks
Kevin
