Free Floating a CZ452 Scout
« on: August 16, 2014, 05:22:33 PM »
WOW. I must be addicted to the CZs.

I bought a CZ452 Varmint a month and a half ago and today picked up from my FFL a couple of GB purchases, a CZ455 Fluted Varmint Thumbhole and a 452 Scout for my oldest daughter. Boy was she happy when we went to the FFLs place after shooting today. She didn't even have any idea either.

Anyway, she says it feels better than the Savage Rascal she was using today, but...

I noticed that the barrel on the 452 Scout is not free floated like on the Rascal. I am planning on sanding the channel out, but I wanted to get confirmation from you all on this forum if that is OK to do so. It should not take much to remove enough material to float the barrel.  I was going to do this since I was going to remove the action in order to adjust the trigger weight for her.  Thanks for any advice.

Cheers!

on the scout I am sure you have one action screw only.
so what I would do is to pillar bed the action first then float the barrel,
BUT!
before you do all that just shoot it a bit and see how it goes, I have some CZ .22's that are great with the stock bedding and others that needed help.
good luck.

BTW welcome to the WARD the CZitis wing  ;)
