Just installed the Cajun Gun Works ultralite SD kit....
« on: November 02, 2014, 01:03:07 AM »
What a difference it makes on the DA. I have a used SS 75B where the previous owner had already done the polishing of internals so right off the bat the DA trigger was already better than the CZs I dry fired at the local gun shop. But now with the new springs installed (I installed the 11.5 # spring with the new firing pin), this gun is a dream to shoot.

Though I don't feel like I need it, I now want to get the reach reduction trigger to see what it'll do.

wakefield,  I have the CGW reach reduction mod. on a 75B  (the very first time it was ever done ;D).  With an 11.5 spring it has a lighter/ easier DA pull than my Custom Shadow with an 8.5# spring.  This is the "felt pull" I'm talking about,  not a measured with a scale pull.  Scales don't change the felt pull.  The B doesn't have the short reset disco,  and the Shadow does.  The Shadow SA is really great,  but the heavier DA pull on the first shot is not as great as the B.  The Shadow's 8.5# spring did improve the DA,  but the B is best DA pull of the two.

I don't really know "why",  and can't say yours will feel the same;  but if it does,  you'll have a big smile for sure.
Just saying.

I just finished cleaning all the guns.  I had to remove the moly resin I get from Dave at CGW for summer use and apply some Rem oil for the winter.  Of course while after cleaning and lubing I had to go through some dry fire.  All of these guns are fully upgraded with the short reset and reach reduction along with the extended firing pin, etc.  They all have 11.5# mainsprings.  They all feel about the same.  Some have been shot in more than others.  I admit to being very biased about CGW parts and services.  I would not own a gun, for competition or for social situations, that did not have everything Dave has to offer.  It's just cheating yourself.  Why anyone would own a modern CZ handgun and not get them fully upgraded is beyond me.  I love 'em.  I depend upon them.  Not one of them has ever let me down.  From the Phantom to the RAMI they are all butter smooth and as reliable as the sun coming up in the morning.

You HAVE to try the race hammer.
I did the Ultralite SD kit first then added the race hammer later.
You won't believe how good it feels!  8)

I'll chime in too. I just did the Ultra-Lite along with a Race Hammer and sear to a 75B in .40 cal - it's like night and day and I wasn't even unhappy with it stock.

I just ordered a 75B in 9mm from Bud's..I can see this is going to be a disease. I guess I'll be back at CGW real soon. :)

What does the race hammer do to make the DA better? Is the interface between it and the sear different than the stock hammer?

The race hammer and ring hammer is basically the same except for the upper parts. They help the single action pull by the "hooks" at the bottom.
