Yes, but the addition of the FAB Defense parts is a new development (I think), and would represent a good bit of savings for buyers who want their VZ2008 to be more "Tactical", at about the same current price or less as a "Traditional" configuration. Surely the supply of original-style furniture hasn't been exhausted?
I see beaver barf all the time on Ebay and other sources, but it's probably far more expensive than the parts kits Century reportedly got years and years ago for super cheap. I remember reading somewhere, and take it for hearsay, that the kits cost them $10-15 a piece. That would be how they were able to sell these rifles for the equivalent of $300 (minus accessory value). I think they threw in all the accessories as most people would have probably been suspicious of a rifle being sold for so little, and would have probably affected sales. I know that if I saw a listing for a "new" rifle line and the copy talked it up as this-and-that, and then seeing a price tag of $300, I might think about it twice, with "junk gun" popping into mind. I bought my first full-accessory rifle for $500, and then another for $399. I was, honestly, suspicious that the $399 rifle might be a reject or return. And, again honestly, I believe the first one sent to me was as it had numerous visible problems, but I refused transfer and PSA sent an immaculate replacement.
That was two years ago and my VZ2008's have been beautiful and I'm very happy with them. Most reported problems have been due to the classic Gremlin, the safety walking, and the shooter not in sync with the trigger's very long reset -- all very easy fixes. A small amount of problems have been due to a mismatch of surplus parts, as outlined a while ago by Forced March and Citizen Pete. With a little effort, those can also be fixed.
It's good to see some coming back as they are terrific rifles. I'm glad I got in when I did.
