Hi all, I recently bought my first CZ pistol, a 75 Compact. Steel frame, DA/SA with left side safety only.
I like the trigger, but coming from a Bruce Gray worked Sig P229, it needed help. Thanks to the modularity of this weapon, I can go little by little and make it exactly how I want it, so I went to CZcustom.com and started with a narrowed CZ Shadow hammer, 15# mainspring, Shadow extended slide release and VZ grips. I called to place the order and explained my specific weapon, so all of the parts should be compatible.
Last night, I detail stripped it and cleaned it (it is used, and pretty filthy inside) and installed the new parts, polishing a few areas while I was in there. I read the tutorials on CZ trigger work, and have done them before on Glocks, Kahrs, M&Ps, and XDs, so I didn't get carried away with metal removal. I did not strip down the sear assembly, just blew it out with Breakfree.
When I went to re-install everything, I had a heck of a time getting the safety to go back in, but I've read that can happen. Once I finally got it in, I am left with a stiff safety, stuck in the off position. I haven't fired it, but in dry fire and cycling, everything else about the weapon seems to be in order. It is not seeing live ammo until I get this figured out.
I removed the safety and put it back in twice, with the same problem and similar difficulty installing both times. It looks like the piece in the sear that lifts to clear the safety when the hammer is cocked isn't coming back far enough. Do I need to move it manually, or remove and bend the omega spring keeping it under tension so the spring holds it higher? Thanks so much for any help.
