Is this even possible?
« on: January 05, 2015, 04:20:37 PM »
currently, on my P01 NATO, the sight on there is just regular sight and not even night sight.

this weekend, shot my friend's MP9 and Glock19, both had the Trijicon RMR on there; which made it very easy for me to aim.

it may look funny on my P01, but i was wondering if it's even possible to fit something like that on the P01?  It doesn't have to be that Trijicon brand, just as long as it has an adjustable Red Dot Sight w/ MOA Dot Reticle.

thanks.

Isn't the sight milled right into the slide?  Sure, have a smith cut the dovetail to fit.  Don't see why not. Just be aware of the extractor pin.

Alchin or Springer may make a base plate that fits into the P-01's dovetail onto which the RDS is mounted.

2morechains: do you have the part number and/or photos of what that would look like?

Not the best picture, but from Springer's website: http://shop.springerprecision.com/product.sc?productId=261&categoryId=42

Advantage with the dovetail mount is no milling of the slide should be required.  However wouldn't sit as low as one that was milled into the slide like the M&P Core.  Bossgobbler has a nice pic as his avatar showing an accu-shadow with a RDS.

Looks like Alchin is only making slide ride RDS mounts for Ruger and Buckmark rimfire pistols.

I imagine it would be if you had a vise and some proper tools like a set of non marring punches. A sight pusher tool might help also. Have you ever removed/installed sights?

Jinn707, I just helped my buddy adjust his sights on his GP100 match championship yesterday with my punch set.

So once I remove the original rear sight and pound in the new mount, it should stay on there pretty solid right? And would you guys recommend mounting this fit HD gun use?

Sounds like you're all set then.  Nothing really complicated about sights.  Punch old ones out, tap new ones in.

As far as HD use, I probably wouldn't recommend it.  If the battery fails, what else are you going to use for sights?  Murphy's law ...
