Unconfuse me about a 75 Compact
« on: November 17, 2014, 10:25:01 AM »
I have read differing opinions about the 75 Compact line, and I hope somebody can help me out.

What I am interested in adding to my CZ stable is a 75 Compact in 9mm, alloy frame, with a safety, not a decocker.

Some online vendors specify that model 91190 is steel framed, some claim alloy.

Is it me or is it my imagination about the confusion ?

Thanks and best regards.

Oh and lastly, I want my Kadet kit to fit as well, it is not the Kadet II.

compact line is steel framed (91190 is for sure) although at one point there where a few that where alloy but as far as I know there are not any current ones.  I sold my de-cocker CZ's and when with the Canik compact which is alloy framed and safety. It will use your CZ mags also.

When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

None of the current compact safety models have an alloy frame.  Your only option, that I am aware of, would be to get a compact L from the CZ Custom shop.  Other than that you would have to wait for a surplus gun to pop up somewhere.  There was a CZ contract with Israel for compacts with safety and alloy frame.  Those pop up on Gunbroker from time to time but the condition of them varies greatly.

What I am interested in adding to my CZ stable is a 75 Compact in 9mm, alloy frame, with a safety, not a decocker.

Unfortunately, you are out of luck when it comes to your CZ preferences. Your options in a compact CZ are:

1. 75 Compact, 9mm -- Steel frame, no light rail, safety. Should be compatible with your Kadet.
2. PCR (or "75D") -- Alloy frame, no light rail, decocker. Should be compatible with your Kadet.
3. P-01 -- Alloy frame, has a light rail, decocker. Should be compatible with your Kadet.
4. Canik C-100 -- A Turkish CZ clone. Alloy frame, no light rail, safety. Doesn't work with the CZ Kadet.

CZ isn't currently selling an alloy compact with a safety; there is a CZ P-02 available in Europe, but they are nearly impossible to find here in the States. The Canik C-100 is a pretty nice gun, but it isn't a CZ and the Kadet kit doesn't seem to fit (at least it doesn't on my C-100.)

In regards to the Canik, I have nearly pulled the trigger on one numerous times.

I really question how often I would use the Kadet on a compact 75, and my intent on owning one (or the Canik) would be to lessen the size for daily carry.  If I decide I can do without the Kadet compatibility, that opens the RAMI up for consideration too. Then again I think the Kadet will fit a RAMI, but the mag sticking out of the grip is not cool at all.

I guess I also need to admit that over the past couple of years I have probably installed the Kadet on one of my existing 75's maybe 2 or 3 times, for maybe 200 rounds total. The Kadet is sure a cool thing, and I think I am sorta hung up on the thought that I just might use it on a Compact or a RAMI.

I picked up a Compact L from CZCustom earlier this year, one of the last ones from that special CZUB production run.  Alloy frame with a light rail and a manual safety.  Also has the competition hammer installed (the bad is the safety can be pushed up in DA, but that's common with the competition hammer) and all the good polishing done by CZC.  Less than 1K rounds through it at this point.  I could be convinced to part with it if you really want one.  I'm interesting in upgrading to their SDP with a decocker.  Send me a PM if you're interested.

There is also the shadowline compact if you can find one.  It has ambi safeties so this is the one you want if you are left handed.  I haven't seen one available in some time however and they were quite expensive.

Do you make your Hogues fit, or do they offer them for compacts now?

Pylon, I have a couple of the Israeli surplus manual safety CZ75 Compacts with alloy frames.  The lighter weight definitely makes a difference.  However, also consider that they are actually a little wider than their steel framed brothers (which are already kind of wide).  The Canik C100's are not as wide, can be purchased new, and appear & function every bit as well as the CZ's.

Bret-

Yeah, I am about to acquire a Canik, but it sure would be nice to have a compact 75 so I could slide the Kadet onto it.

I understand.  Do you know that you could sell your Kadet kit and buy a new Witness 9mm/22LR combo pistol?
