Tried out the Ruger SR1911 Nightwatchman today
« on: December 21, 2014, 05:37:11 PM »
Shot my newest 1911 today along with my CZ 75 Omega. I picked up a Ruger SR1911 Nightwatchman commander yesterday. Gave the pistol a clean and lube last night. I'm very impressed with the quality of this pistol. Fit and finish are better than my Springfield Loaded and every bit as nice as my Colt XSE. The trigger is very consistent and clean, breaks at a hair over 3 and 1/2 pounds. Accuracy was very good with my 230gr RN hand loads and Federal 230gr HST ammo. I forgot to take a target picture, but at 15 yards it grouped excellent.

I don't care for the grips color or texture, I've ordered a new set from Altamont.

Didn't know they had one.  My SR1911 was a good value and a great introduction to the platform, I hope you enjoy yours.  Saw the Trijicon rear sight, I added my own front and back Trijicon sights on my government sized model and made them work.   Thanks for posting.

Wahoo1, That's the first time I've seen a Nightwatchman, very nice! I'm sure you will like it.

I purchased a used SR1911 about 2 months ago. I'm very happy with it. The fit and finish is excellent.

That looks great!  I didn't realize the margins on the slide side aren't carried over from the stainless model.  Now I like it even more!

Oh yeah?  Well check out my two.  I did the custom work on both of them when I was learning how to work on 1911's.

Not sure how to answer that one. Both are 100% reliable, and with their preferred load both are accurate.

Congrats. That NW is pretty sweet. I'm hoping to score the new Light Weight SR1911 soon.

I found one of the most comfortable grip panels for my 1911 were also the cheapest - the Magpul MOEs. They come in a wide variety of designs now.
