Trigger job on CZ-75B (mod the stock hammer)
« on: December 12, 2014, 12:44:16 PM »
Is it possible to remove some of the trigger SA creep on my well used 75B without buying a race hammer? i.e. what if I were to reduce the depth of the hammer hooks, and/or adjust the angle for slightly less positive engagement.

Yes, but..

I call it old school CZ Gunsmithing. Everyone did it because there were no aftermarket hammers or sears. If you are just looking to polish all the engagement surfaces and clean things up it is not a bad option. If you really want a nice dependable action buy a hammer.

And from the gunsmith page stick,

I basically agree with AZ_CZ,  but a comp. or race hammer IS a big part of having a trigger more like a good quality 1911 SA.
If you try one with an improved hammer,  you'll never look back or regret it.

Just go slow if you try to modify the hammer yourself.  You can't just cut the hammer hooks down to 0.020" like on a 1911.  The angles are all different.  I messed up some parts before just buying what I needed from CGW or CZ Custom.  I've done many SIGs and 1911 trigger jobs with good results.  I've buggered up every CZ, however.  I've learned my lesson.  Now, the CGW parts go from the plastic bag in to the gun without me doing anything but lube and I don't have ANY problems.  And these pistols see a lot of rounds with little maintenance.
