CZ P01 slide on a 75B frame?
« on: December 14, 2014, 10:54:49 AM »
Here is the issue. I have a P01 which is basically stock. I am just getting into IDPA with it.

I also have a CGW 75B with trigger modifications that probably don't violate IDPA rules (we'll see). I want to put a Springer Precision mount with a Burris Fastfire III on the 75B. I have vision issues (I use no-line bifocals) so iron sights are challenging. At that point I wouldn't be able to use it in IDPA but I could use it in USPSA Open and Steel Challenge Optics.

Can I run the P01 slide on the 75B frame? This would give me the trigger job but with iron sights. Will it work? Is it IDPA SSP legal to run a gun assembled from two different SSP guns given that the parts are stock and interchangeable? The alternative is a trigger job on the P01 or keep running it as is. As it is my HD pistol and very reliable, I am not sure I want to modify it.

Can't answer the legality but it works just fine and is a unique look.  I used to do it for the opposite look with my PCR lower and nickel 75B upper.
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

Walton,
If you were to use the P-01 slide on thr 75b frame you would need to be in ESP. Swapping slides would make it illegal for SSP. If your 75b has a CGW hammer it would make it illegal for SSP.

I would just use your P-01 for SSP. I normally shoot a SP-01 in SSP. I have used my P-01 in SSP. The P-01 is one of my carry guns. I have no change in times or much differnce in feel when using the P-01 when using it instead of the SP-01. Both are stock other than CGW spring kits.

Thanks Troy. So this is what I understand...

P-01 for IDPA SSP
P-01 slide on 75B for IDPA ESP
and 75B with optics for USPSA Open and Steel Challenge Optics.

Correct?

That's correct. It has not been decided on yet, but IDPA may have an optics/laser class in the the near future. So there might possably be another option for you.
