Problem with new PCR
« on: December 13, 2014, 07:03:03 PM »
Less than one month ago, I became the proud owner of a brand-new PCR!
Yesterday I took it out to shoot for the first time. On its maiden firing, it fed and ejected very well. Just after four shots, it failed to go into battery. Upon inspection, I noticed that a tiny metal rod from the loaded chamber indicator had come off and was in between the bullet and the firing pin extractor piece.  The spring that goes with was off and jammed in the niche where The loaded chamber indicator normally is.
It seems as though the hollow that contains the loaded chamber indicator is broken. Or is it normal and the indicator can be placed back in the pistol.
Does anyone have an opinion?

Sounds like a good time to contact CZ-USA.

I'd also call CZ about this. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, I HATE loaded chamber indicators, they serve no purpose except maybe to keep the lawyers happy. If a gun is in my hand it is loaded I don't need an indicator to tell me.

Thank You all for your input. It is disheartening when something like this happens. I am happy to report that today I received notice from CZ-USA that they have my PCR. Lets see what they say. I hope they can resolve the issue. As you can see, the real problem is what appears to be a broken bolt face where the loaded chamber indicator is housed.
Thanks Again

On of the reasons why I chose the CZ 75 Compact Standard model is because it does not have the LCI. I think LCI's are an unnecessary, potentially unsafe, a waste of time and money and just one more thing that can go wrong on a gun. One should ALWAYS assume the gun is loaded, then PHYSICALLY check to make sure that is or isn't, and not rely on some silly LCI.

I'm glad I am not the only one that hates LCI's.  Unfortunately it is not the fret time this has happened and it keeps me from owning the PCR along with any other firearm that has something shoved in breech block or extractor that doesn't belong there.  Cz USA got an email from me when the PCR was released requesting a non LCI model.  Sucks because it ruins the best carry option in the line up.  You ever gonna trust that again?

As my earlier post mentioned I don't like LCI's either. Just wondering if anyone has tried removing the thing? Now that I've got my initial range trip out of the way I will probably remove it prior to the next range trip. I've removed LCI's from several pistols in the past and never had a problem, don't see why it should be an issue with this one.
If anyone is interested in a follow up please PM me and I'll contact you.
