Magazine Suggestions
« on: January 12, 2015, 03:52:45 PM »
Hey everyone, first post and pretty new to the handgun world. I've shot multiple times with my dad (20 year military vet) but I don't really have any actual knowledge on handguns. I was recently given one that belonged to my uncle who passed away and I'd love any helpful tips and suggestions.

Armi Fratelli Tanfoglio SPA TZ 75 (9mm Parabellum)

It has the standard wood panels and no magazine or rounds. I picked up a set of Hogue rubber grips but that's literally all I've done with it. Any suggestions on what the best type of magazine would be and where to purchase? Any additional info would be really appreciated. Thanks guys!

Welcome to the forum.  I don't know the answer to your question, but I'd sure like to see the pistol.  Can you post a few pictures?

Welcome to the forum!  Tz75's are fine handguns. My understanding is that they were the ancestors to the small frame model witnesses so if I'm not mistaken they should take cz75 magazines. I'm not the expert in these though, so take that for what it's worth. I'm sure someone more knowledgable on tzs can help.

You should be able to email EAA, European and american arms corp and they can tell you a lot about your gun if you provide them with your serial number. Eaacorp@eaacorp.com

Oh and yeah, pics are a must.

Awesome, thanks guys, I'll definitely get some pics posted soon.

If I'm able to take it to a local shop that can fit it with a proper magazine, is it possible to have them actually shoot the gun (if they have a range or testing area) to make sure everything is working fine on it...or is that an odd request?

They're not likely to do that as it would make the magazine "used".  They're also highly unlikely to have the knowledge necessary to know which ones work and which ones don't.  Just because a magazine locks in does not mean that it will function 100% with the pistol.  I think your best bet is finding out from someone here what they did for magazines for their TZ 75.

There is a Frame Modification that may allow the use of current Cz75B magazines: http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=39056.0

Also, Mec-Gar Cz75B 19 round magazines are said to work, but I have no personal verification of this.

EAA may have Magazines for your older Tanfoglio Tz75 Pistol. Call them.  http://eaacorp.com/
