Vz. 58s Big in Israel?
« on: February 07, 2015, 10:09:55 PM »
I noticed that FAB Defense is located in Israel and Zahal is an Israeli company. Are Vz. 58s especially popular in Israel?

I know IMI/IWI's Jericho pistol is based on the CZ-75, but I hadn't heard anything about Vz. 58s being used. On my trip over there in the late '90s, I saw lots of M4s carried by the IDF and some AKs in Palestinian areas but no Galils or Vz. 58s.

Thanks

I don't think they are any bigger then any other non Isreali built weapon. Certainly not like the Galil or the US made weapons used.

VZ58s are relatively popular among security contractors and others who aren't constrained by gov't armory inventory...

A lot of folks those private guys train use 7.62x39 AKs, but realizing their limitations, some choose to use another platform...  Or at least that's my understanding.

Israel being located in the Middle East where much of recent history's conflicts have been...  And certainly where there are the most nations that can afford to hire private armies...
